Something Different

I know that the majority of this blog contains stories and pictures about Lexi and Lyla, but I'm going to be trying something different.

As most of you know I started running a year ago and quickly became obsessed with it.  So, being the overachiever that I am, I signed up for the St. Jude Half Marathon on December 1, 2012.  Yeah, smart move, Mama.

I also decided to do this crazy Road Race Series with the Memphis Runner's Club.  This involves 2 5k's, 2 five milers, 2 10k's, 2 ten milers, and 2 half marathons.  Holy sh*t.  I just ran the second 5k this morning and while I didn't set any personal records, I still did it and had fun.

Tomorrow I will be starting Hal Higdon's 10k training program to prepare me for the first 10k of the series.  After that's over, my bestie and running inspiration, Brooke, and I will be starting Hal Higdon's half marathon training.  Yep, this is serious!

So to keep me honest, I will be blogging about my training.  This is for me.  This is to chronicle the journey that I will take to accomplish my goals.  Maybe you don't care and you'll skip over these posts, but maybe you'll be inspired to get your running shoes on and RUN!!!

  1. Go, you!!! I love a good 5K. I'm not sure I could handle a bigger race than that. :) I'll be cheering you on, impressed as hell.

  2. I love that you are blogging about running. I have set a goal to do the half in Nashville next April, my hubby does it and loves it! Can't wait to keep reading!

  4. Awesome! That sounds like an impressive running schedule. I'm looking forward to reading about it. I am running a 10K at the end of September (raising money for Special Olympics) and even though I ran a 15K and 10K last summer, I'm finding the training this year to be harder! Maybe it's because I'm older or it's so much hotter this summer, but hopefully your blogging about your runs will help keep me motivated!

  5. That's awesome! My husband is running quite a bit these days. I bought some new shoes, thinking that might help me catch the fever... I'm still waiting! : )

Seriously, if it ever gets below 100 degrees around here, I might find some inspiration.
