Operation Vegetable Garden, Day 3

Today work continued on preparing our garden, however Josh once again was alone. Well, except for his cute little helpers who thought crabs grow in gardens. A little too much Little Mermaid? Sebastian is pretty cool, but I just don't see him sprouting in our garden anytime soon.

My back was still bothering me today, probably from the raking the other day. Or maybe the idiotic decision to carry a few of those crazy large bags of soil. But I'll be back in the gardening game tomorrow since I'll be going to a local nursery to pick out plants!

And it's perfectly normal to find Lyla gardening in her panties and one of Josh's hats.  I read that that was the new gardening style these days.  Don't worry, I won't be posting any pictures of me in that style!

33

Happy birthday to me!  I turned the big double-tres on Wednesday.  Thirty-three *sounds* pretty old, but honestly, I still feel like an 18 year old (minus the few wrinkles and aching back).
This picture wasn't from my birthday, but I just really like it.  I took it a few weeks ago so I basically look the same, although my hair is blonder now.  Anywho....back to my birthday.

So I woke up and went to a local park here in Collierville called Johnson Park.  There is a fabulous trail that I've started running there and it makes me feel like Katniss in The Hunger Games because a large portion of the trail is through woods.  Love it.

Then, I came home and drank my coffee and watched these happy little bunnies with my girls:

Gotta love that silly Max.  For some reason Lexi and Lyla thought we were going to a birthday party for me today.  They were a little disappointed that there was no party but they decided they needed to blow some bubbles for me!

Yes, Lexi is wearing a princess dress and an upside down crown.  This is what happens when you let your creative 3 year olds dress themselves.

Then it was time for the best part of the day....Muddy's Cupcakes!  If you've never been and you live in the Memphis area, shame on you.  Best cupcakes hands down.  We got Prozac, Plain Jane, Cookies n cream, and Monkey Around.
We ate at Panera, and as usual, were asked 4 times if Lexi and Lyla were twins.  I mean, come on people!  I don't have to dress them the same for them to be twins!  Oh and thanks Mr. Creepy Man for making weird winking faces at Lexi.

When we got home we chilled for a little while and then I took the girls on a short walk while Josh worked on our vegetable garden. Then it was time for more food!  Josh and I had gone to Bangkok Alley last night for a special grown up birthday dinner so tonight I wanted a good family favorite:  Mama Mia's Pizza!  This is another Memphis Must if you live here or are visiting.  It's another local joint and their pizza is amazing.  Plus right now they are donating 13% to a local family that has a son battling cancer.  Very inspiring.
And that was my birthday!  It was a great day, made special by all the texts, calls, and facebook messages from the many friends I've made along this journey of life.  I'm a blessed girl, that's for sure.  Or should I say I'm a blessed woman?  Nah, I'm still a girl at heart :)

Now for the birthday loot...Let's just say this mama is S.P.O.I.L.E.D.

I got the Ipad 3 when it first came out for an early birthday gift.

Wolfgang Puck dishes...so pretty!
Charm White Primrose Path
Charm Purse PCZ
2 new Pandora charms
Classic 301 image
Toms Sunglasses...I get new sunglasses, a child in need gets glasses.  Win-Win.

I think that's it.  Told you I got spoiled!

Operation Vegetable Garden, Day 1

Today we began building our vegetable gardens. We started by selecting the area in the backyard that would be best. Then, Josh cut the grass super short and weed-eated while I raked up all the excess grass clippings.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to be pretty sore tomorrow. But I'm sure it will all be worth it, right? Right.

Then, we put together the raised garden beds that we bought yesterday. It wasn't terribly hard but the stupid trellis proved to be the most difficult part.

Oh, and what were Lexi and Lyla doing? Well they were playing doctor, or something like that.

Tomorrow I'm going to go pick out the plants. We're planning on growing cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, squash, and zucchini. I'm super excited about being able to feed the girls good homegrown vegetables! If anyone has advice, I'd love to hear it! Say a prayer for my future plant babies...

My Big Girl!

Can you believe how fast my little Lexi is riding her big bike?!  Her sister isn't quite there yet, but we're working on it!

Vacation!

I'm on a much needed vacation this week! I plan on doing a lot of playing outside with my little partner in crimes. We'll do some shopping and cooking as well. I plan on running some new trails and building a vegetable garden. Oh and I'll also turn a year older which is fine by me.

I'll tell my little pals how much I love them over and over, and I'll demand lots of hugs and kisses. I'll play princess and nail shop. I'll sing Disney songs and make up dances and I WILL LOVE EVERY SECOND.

And then we'll go back to business as usual and I'll pray that my babies know that everything Daddy and I do is for them. I'll pray that they never forget how smart, beautiful, and funny they are. I'll pray that they know they are the best things that have ever happened to me and that I love them more than they'll ever know. And I'll kiss them goodnight and thank G-d for everything He has given me.

Thursday Things

1. I want to be Katniss. Okay, maybe not exactly like her since I really don't want to be fighting for my life. But I want to be a badass like her. Basically what I'm trying to say is, I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES.

2. We went to the zoo on Monday since Aunt Patty was visiting. I think I'll do a separate post about this but the girls had fun and only slightly obsessed over the playground there.

3. Ok, I'd like to admit that I put that picture of me and Lyla on the carousel on here solely because I love how skinny my legs look. Which brings me to...

4. I'm 4.8 pounds away from goal weight! Holy cow I've almost done it. I can't believe that someone who likes to eat as much as me has been able to lose even a single pound, much less 15!!

5. I've become pretty obsessed with this line of hair care products:

I use the shampoo, conditioner, and straightening style spray and I'm here to tell you, THEY WORK! I'm not too obsessed with the price though.

6. One Tree Hill ended last night. I'm sad because this show always reminds me of when Lexi and Lyla were newborns. Josh and I would watch the reruns on Soap Network while we were awake for hours on end. I became a fan and now my show is over. At least ended and happy and without stupid Peyton making a guest appearance.

Ok that's it from me! It's been a fun week and it's about to get even better with Passover starting tomorrow night! It's also Paw Paw's birthday and the girls wish him a very Happy Birthday!

Lyla-isms

Lyla: Daddy, are you happy?

Daddy: Yes, I am! Are you happy?

Lyla: Yes! Mommy, are you happy?

Mommy: Yes I am!

Lyla: Lexi, are you happy?

Lexi: Yep!

Lyla: Piper and Casey, are you happy?

Piper and Casey: no answer, they are dogs, after all.
