Operation Vegetable Garden, Day 1

Today we began building our vegetable gardens. We started by selecting the area in the backyard that would be best. Then, Josh cut the grass super short and weed-eated while I raked up all the excess grass clippings.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to be pretty sore tomorrow. But I'm sure it will all be worth it, right? Right.

Then, we put together the raised garden beds that we bought yesterday. It wasn't terribly hard but the stupid trellis proved to be the most difficult part.

Oh, and what were Lexi and Lyla doing? Well they were playing doctor, or something like that.

Tomorrow I'm going to go pick out the plants. We're planning on growing cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, squash, and zucchini. I'm super excited about being able to feed the girls good homegrown vegetables! If anyone has advice, I'd love to hear it! Say a prayer for my future plant babies...

  1. I want a garden badly! Especially with how much produce my kids consume! I've hear its a super hard thing to do here in FL though, but I do have some friends that have them...maybe I'll get the courage some day. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!

  2. you need lots of room and lots of sunshine. My Dad says the tomatoes need 6 hours of direct sun every day. And the squash and zuch's need room to spread out! lots of fun and good to eat!
