9 Month Check-Up = Success!

I am so behind on posting and I feel like I have a MILLION things to blog about. I'm going to start with our 9 month check up that we had this week. This was our first check up where we did not carry the girls in with their infant carriers/car seats! Sounds silly and trivial, but it really felt like they were big girls this way. The main reason we did it was because they are so heavy to carry! Well we found out why...Lexi weighs 18 pounds 6 ounces and Lyla weighs 17 pounds 12 ounces! This is more than QUADRUPLE their birth weights! They are both 27 inches tall and they have huge heads. They are hitting all of their developmental milestones on time and they do not have to be adjusted for prematurity any more! They got their first flu shot and we have to go back in a month for the second one. The pediatrician also gave us the go ahead to start transitioning off of baby food and on to what we eat. She said it would be okay to go down to 3 bottles with sippy cups of water whenever they want (still working on sippy cup training). They both did so great and we are so proud of our little girls. I feel like I say this all of the time, but I do feel so incredibly blessed to have such wonderful, HEALTHY, baby girls.

  1. I totally understand what you mean about the excitment of not carrying them in their car seats. Our babies are growing up. I am so excited for them and for you that they do not have to be adjusted for prematurity. I don't know if others grasp just how huge this really is. We adjust most kids up to 2 years old, but at 9-months Lexi and Lyla are rocking at those milestones. I am crying tears of joy for you!

I hope you have better luck with transitioning to real food. I still serve both to Ella. She always wants to eat off my plate, but with only 2 teeth she chokes frequently. We are also still working on going to the sippy cup with milk. She uses it for water.

  2. Ok, I am having the HARDEST time with the sippy cups. The boys just hold them and chew on the nipple, totally do not grasp tilting the head back. Three bottles a day is very exciting, I hope we get the same advice in two weeks. I am over making formula!!! ANd I love the flooring on the post above!

  3. I think my pediatrician doesn't drop the 4th bottle until 12 months, but I think Ella may be ready. Are you dropping the bedtime one?
