Lexi and Lyla-isms

Scene:  The Red Store, known to some as Target, in the shampoo section.  A little boy probably around 2 years old starts screaming crying.
Lexi:  What's wrong with that baby?  Why is he crying?
Lyla:  Because he's not happy like us.
Lexi:  Oh yes, I'm a happy girl.
Lyla:  Me too.  Are you happy Mommy?
Mommy:  (While trying not to cry laugh) More than you'll ever know.

First Splash Park Trip

Last week we headed to the local splash park for the first time this summer.  You might remember how much the girls enjoyed it last summer:

We're still loving it as much as last year but without the swim diapers and with maybe a little more hair.  My super fun friend Allison, known to the girls as Aunt Al, came along with us.  

The girls love Aunt Al so much because:

1.  She buys them chicken nuggets and always shares her french fries.

2.  She buys us all rainbow popsicles.

3.  She takes them to the gross public potty even when she's barefoot.

4.  She has cool tattoos permanent marker drawings.

5.  She helps Mommy pull weeds.

Oh wait, that last reason might have to do with me and not Lexi and Lyla.  But I think you get the idea, Aunt Al is AWESOME!

I'm long overdue on providing a recap of Pinterest recipes that are must-makes. I've still been doing menu plans and I love how it ends the never ending cycle of "what's for dinner". Plus, trying new recipes is so fun for me.

Rewind: Memorial Day

I'm the worst blogger ever, which is really okay since I am not a professional blogger or anything. Take a trip back in time with me as I remember our fun Memorial Day cookout.

I have a friend. Her name is Deena. We've been friends for probably 27 or 28 years. Yeah that's right, we're old. Anyway, Deena married an awesome dude named David a year and a half ago and David likes to cook. This is a really important fact to mention because I really doubt that Deena can boil water. The even more important fact is that we like to eat. So Deena and David invited us, and our other best friend Brooke, who is pregnant, her husband Ryan, and little Celia, over for a cookout, along with the rest of Deena's family.

Lexi and Lyla loved getting to play with their buddies, Celia, Daphne, and Sampson.
They ate and swung ( um, English, help?) and played. The adults ate and drank and certain men argued about politics. It was a lovely time.

First Harvest

I'm long overdue on an Operation Garden update, but yesterday (which was now a few days ago since I saved this post) we picked 2 cucumbers and 1 pickling cucumber! I am over the moon excited with how well everything is growing.

So proud of our delicious cucumbers!

This was gone in 2.2 seconds.  No joke.

Wanting to know when they can have more!
