Good Times On My Day Off
I work a 3 week rotating schedule which gives me two 3 days weekends every 3 weeks. Due to some scheduling changes I have ended up with a four day weekend this week which is wonderful! Today was the first of four days off and it started off with a bang! I fed Lexi at 7:30 am and Lyla at 8:00 am. We used to be able to feed them both at the same time but lately it just turns into a mess. I think they distract each other and just end up screaming. Back to my point...after they ate, they both took a little nap and then sat in their Bumbos for a while. Then I fed Lyla at 11:30 am and Lexi at noon. Lexi went into her bouncy seat and napped for a bit and I let Lyla lounge in her Boppy alternating tummy and back. Once Lyla got tired of that I put her in her bouncy seat and went to get Lexi. About this time Lexi let out the LOUDEST fart I have ever heard (from a baby). I smelled her...nothing. So I picked her up and decided to put her on her tummy on the Boppy. And this is what I saw (NOT FOR THE EASILY GROSSED OUT!!!):
No joke. This child pooped all the way up her back in what can only be described as a massive poop explosion. There was even a poop stain in the bouncy seat! My daughter has some skills.
In other news, we are attempting to slowly move toward sleeping through the night (still). The girls are finally letting us put them flat on their backs more. They go through phases where they will only sleep in their bouncy seats but they've been getting better about this. We had been keeping them together in the pack n play but I noticed that they would punch each other and then wake each other up. So we have separated them...Lexi in the pack n play and Lyla in the co-sleeper. I'm still not ready to put them in their cribs. I think they are doing better separated!
And finally, the girls are really noticing their hands these days. They love to clasp them together on their chests and Lexi is starting to bring her fingers to her mouth. Lyla took and held a plastic link today while sitting in her Bumbo...she waved that thing around proudly for a while!
I hope you all have a good weekend!

Washcloth Head
This is what Daddy does when Mama is at work:
I'm still slightly confused as to why my little baby Lyla has a washcloth on her head! It's pretty funny though! Here are some other pictures that Josh took of Lyla that day:
I also wanted to thank everyone for the insight on our potential teething issues! The past 2 days have been much better for Lexi and Lyla so maybe they are going through some teething pain. It's so much easier to go to work when I know my girls are feeling better! I made it through my first weekend back in the pharmacy!

Back to Work :(
I had to go back to work on Tuesday. It was really hard to leave Lexi and Lyla but knowing they were with their Daddy made it a little bit easier. I miss them so much when I'm at work but luckily we have been so busy that it keeps my mind off of them (a little bit). Plus my coworkers are awesome and we manage to have fun! I keep a few pictures on the counter for when my customers/patients ask about them and Josh sends me text messages with pictures often. They've been a little fussy lately and we're not quite sure what's going on with them. We think they might be teething but it just seems so early for that. They've been drooling a lot and they are really wanting to chew on things. No fevers so I don't really feel a need to call the doctor. Any ideas from my fellow Mamas?
Here are some pictures that Josh took on my first day back to work:
One of my patients made these beautiful blankets for the girls and asked that I take a picture of them on it for her. Here are some of my attempts:

Happy Two Months Lexi and Lyla!
We've made it to two months! I can't believe that my little girls have already been with us for two months. When I was pregnant, every week was such a big deal, especially with carrying twins. It's funny how life is still like that once they are born. The only difference is, when you're pregnant, you want the time to go fast, when you're a parent, you want the time to slow down. I'm already telling Lexi and Lyla that we will be moving to Knoxville with them in 18 years when they go to college!
We had their 2 month appointment yesterday and everything went well (except for the shots). Here are their stats:
Lexi:
Weight- 9 pounds 2 ounces
Length- 21 inches
Head circumference- 37 cm
Lyla:
Weight- 8 pounds 9 ounces
Length- 21 inches
Head circumference- 37 cm
Their doctor was so pleased with their growth! She also checked their motor development and said they were right on track. So it looks like we're doing a good job with them! The girls definitely did not enjoy their shots and neither did I! We get to do it all again in 2 months!
Here are some other facts about Lexi and Lyla at 2 months:
Lexi:
Eating: 4.5 oz every 4 hours. She eats about 5.5 oz at 10 pm.
Sleeping: She's starting to sleep about 5 hours straight at night. Getting better!
Clothes: Still wearing mostly Newborn size clothes. In Gerber brand onesies she is wearing 0-3 months. Just started using the Size 1 Pampers Swaddlers!
Lyla:
Eating: 3.5-4.5 oz every 4 hours. The past couple of days she's been congested which I think has slowed down her eating but yesterday and today so far have been better. She also gets a bigger bottle at 10 pm but only finishes it occasionally.
Sleeping: Same as Lexi (thankfully!)
Clothes: Same as Lexi!
Both girls are getting less stingy with their smiles which is so sweet. They react to different faces and noises so I can't really pinpoint what makes them smile the most. They are also tracking us so it makes it hard to walk away from them when you know they are looking at you! I have to say having 4 eyes on you is amazing! They still love to look at lights and fans. Their necks are getting stronger which I think can be seen in the pictures of their Bumbo seats.
Lexi and Lyla, Mama and Daddy love you so much and we can't wait to see what the next 2 months brings! You are both beautiful girls and we are so thankful to have you in our lives.
These pictures were after we got home from the doctor yesterday so they weren't very happy!
